Mixed Choir
The Little Miami Select Mixed Choir

The Little Miami Select Mixed Choir was created in 2007 to give the men of the LMHS choir program the opportunity to perform at a more serious and challenging competitive level with mixed choir repertoire.  Students in grades 10-12 who have completed at least one semester in men’s choir are eligible to audition for the choir. The choir began as an extra-curricular activity, but it is now in its fifth year as part of the daily schedule.  Since its beginning, the select mixed choir has grown to earn superior ratings at OMEA district and state adjudicated events, while also traveling with the select women’s chorale to perform in local and regional events.  Members of SMX (pronounced “smacks”) have performed in choral festivals and clinics at The Ohio State University, University of Pittsburgh, Northwestern University, State University of New York, Belmont University (TN), University of Louisville, and most recently, Drexel University and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. The select mixed choir appears in many performances with the select women’s chorale throughout our community and region.  The men of this ensemble also performed with the mass honor choir at the first-ever Music for All National Choir Festival.
